Mastering EMC One Level at a Time
Level K
You often hear people making EMC presentations say, "They don't teach this in school ...."1 Nevertheless, if you have degree in electrical engineering or physics, you are well-prepared to get started along the path towards becoming an EMC expert. Some of the topics and skills that will be especially important along the way are:
- Basic linear systems
- Time/Frequency domain transforms
- Simple RLC circuits in the time domain
- Simple RLC circuits in the frequency domain
- Basic transmission lines
- Usually, when someone giving an EMC presentation says "They don't teach this in school," they are referring to something that is definitely part of virtually every electrical engineering curriculum anywhere in the world. However, students don't generally take every course, and don't necessarily retain everything taught in the courses they take. ↩
